HTC yesterday announced the launch of the RE camera, a periscope-shaped 16-megapixel GoPro competitor that records 1080p video, timelapses and records HD slow-motion video at 1/4 speed.
The camera has a 146-degree wide-angle lens and image stabilization software and is built with a waterproof design.
RE was made to fit comfortably in your hand and features a built-in grip sensor that instantly activates the camera on pick up, eliminating the need for a power button. Its single shutter button allows one-tap to capture photos and a longer press for video recording for seamless switching between modes.
The RE app features a remote live viewfinder that lets you set up the perfect shot and watch the live action on the screen of your mobile device, or switch to album and playback view to flick through the shots and videos already stored on the camera. Because life’s adventures are limitless, the app will also back everything up to your phone or the cloud automatically so you never need to worry about running out of space and missing a shot again.
The camera comes in white, teal, orange and navy blue and will be available for $ 199,- at recamera.com starting November in the US.
